PagladawanGP9003 cartridge.jpg
English: Swiss 7,5 mm GP90/03 service cartridge. From left to right: Paper patched bullet, cartridge case, PC88 propellant and complete cartridge.
It was loaded with a paper patched lead hollow based heeled steel-capped round-nose bullet. Starting from the rear of the nose section the bullets were wrapped around by two turns of paper, much like cotton patches were placed around the bullet of a musket. This paper patching was supposed to aid in the gas seal of the bullet and reduce metallic fouling of the barrel.
PC 88 cut tubular shaped rauchschwacher (literally "low smoke") propellant was used in the GP90/03 cartridge. As a single-base powder PC 88 relies on nitrocellulose as its propellant ingredient.
